A display of graffiti art is on view in the Quincy Art Center’s Jack W. Boge Art Library & Conference Room.  Four large-scale works were created by local artists: Peggy Ballard, Dave Brown, Jeff Bruce, and the team of Mike O’Neal and John Nelson. The artists were required to use spray paint on panel and had two and one-half hours to complete their pieces.  The artists created the art in the traditional graffiti style using subject matter of urban spaces and words.  There was a competition held on the Quincy Art Center’s lawn during Artoberfest, Saturday, October 6 which was judged by Adams County Sheriff Brent Fischer and Illinois State Police Safety Education Officer Trooper Mike Kindhart.  The Quincy Art Center Board and staff would like to thank Home Depot for the donation of spray paint.
The Exhibit will be available for viewing through Sunday, October 21 during gallery hours of noon-4 p.m., Tuesday – Friday and 1-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The Quincy Art Center will be traveling the graffiti paintings to other locations in the future.
