Conversations with the Curator Program Focuses on First Donenberg Exhibit
A “Conversations with the Curator” program will be presented on Friday, October 17, 2008, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. This educational tour/reception is being presented in conjunction with The Inaugural Exhibition of the The Fred, Olga and Elayne Donenberg Collection. Violin music will be performed by Bobby Irvine while participants view artwork. Irvine is an 8th grade student from Blessing Sacrament School, Light refreshments will be provided.
Starting at 7:30 p.m. Nelson will speak briefly about how the Art Center was selected as the “home” for the Fred, Olga and Elayne Donenberg Collection. She will also touch upon Elayne Donenberg’s intentions for the collection. Next, Nelson will lead the visitors throughout the galleries and talk about the artwork on view. Ninety pieces by 50 American artists are on display, many having a connection with the Chicago Art Institute. Two works from the collection may also be seen at Toyota Shottenkirk at 5333 Broadway in Quincy. The Exhibition will be in place through
October 31st.
Shottenkirk Toyota is the local sponsor of the exhibit and the Conversations with the Curator program. Funding has also been provided in part by the Estate of Fred, Olga and Elayne Donenberg and The Illinois Arts Council, an agency of the State.
The public is invited to attend. Art Center Membership information will be available. There is no charge for Art Center members, $3.00 for non-members and $1.00 for seniors and students.
