Renee McGinnis grew up on a farm in central Illinois. She graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University in 1984 with a BFA, and attended graduate school at the University of Chicago studying sociology and anthropology. She has exhibited nationally in Chicago, New York City, Washington D.C., and Baltimore, MD as well as globally in Germany and Australia.
