Reflect on the Past, Engage with the Present, and Imagine the Future

Join us in celebrating 100 years of exhibiting local & regional artists and creating artwork with the Quincy Art Center. We invite you to share and create art for your community to experience. All responses to the theme are welcome. All art mediums are welcome. A written statement or story about the artwork to accompany the artwork in the gallery is highly encouraged. This exhibit is FREE and open to the public. The Art Center is open 11 AM – 6 PM Wednesday – Saturday.

Exhibit Dates: Saturday, May 27 – Saturday, July 29, 2023
Location: Katharine Gardner Stevenson Gallery and Elizabeth M. Sinnock Gallery at The Art Center
Opening Reception: Saturday, May 27, 1 – 3pm, with gallery discussion at 1:30pm.

Who can participate in this exhibit? 
This exhibit is meant to represent our entire community! Artists and art collectors of all ages may submit up to three artworks for the exhibit that explore the theme of “Reflect on the Past, Engage with the Present, and Imagine the Future.” Everyone, from beginners to master artists, are welcome to participate. All artworks submitted will be exhibited. Collaborations are encouraged. There is no cost to participate.

Looking for prompts to help respond to the theme?

  • Reflect on the Past:
    • Favorite past exhibited artwork or award-winning artwork at The Art Center
    • Artwork made in a past Art Center class
    • Artwork purchased from Art Center exhibitions
    • Artworks about Quincy or Art Center history
  • Engage with the Present:
    • Artwork created in current Art Center classes
    • Artwork that speaks to where our community is right now
    • Artwork that captures or comments on current events
    • Artwork that is interactive with the viewer
  • Imagine the Future:
    • Artwork that explores what could be
    • Artwork that envisions what our community or world might be like in the future
    • Artwork that utilizes new technology or techniques
  • A single artwork or a grouping of three artworks exploring one concept throughout the past, present, and future

What dates can I bring artwork to the Quincy Art Center to submit?

All submissions must be hand-delivered and picked up by the artist, collector, or their agent during times listed below. Contact staff to schedule site-specific installations.
